Endesa announces power cuts in Pájara and Tuineje
  • It will affect some 15,519 customers residing in the southern municipalities of Fuerteventura

Endesa has reported this Tuesday that scheduled cuts in the electricity supply are planned in the municipalities of Tuineje and Pájara in the early hours of next Thursday, October 20, between 00:00 and 03:00, and on October 30, in the same schedule.

This situation occurs as a result of the improvement works on the Transmission Network that will be carried out by the Redeia group, formerly Red Eléctrica Española (REE), Endesa reported in a statement.

For this reason, Endesa warns its users of this temporary interruption and hopes that when it occurs at dawn, the inconvenience that could be caused will be reduced.

In this regard, Redeia will temporarily leave the Gran Tarajal 66kV and Matas Blancas 66kV transmission substations without voltage to carry out repair and adaptation work on the underground section of the 66 kV Las Salinas-Gran Tarajal line in Fuerteventura.

The works planned by Redeia in the transmission network will mean an interruption of supply to customers and to generation connected to Endesa's distribution network, affecting a market of some 15,519 customers residing in the municipalities of Tuineje and Pájara.

In Tuineje, Tarajalejo, Valle de Tarajalejo, Marco Sánchez, Tamaretilla, Cardón, Montaña Hendida, La Calabaza, Valle de Tesejerague, Tesejerague, Los Adejes, Giniginámar, Valle de Giniginamar, Violante, Mazacote, Piedra Hincada, Diego Alonso, will be affected. Finca Araña, El Polvorín, La Fuentita, El Charco, El Aceitún Gran Tarajal).

In Pájara, they will be the towns of Morro Jable, Solana Matorral, Las Gaviotas, Esquinzo, Cañada del Rio, Costa Calma, La Pared, Las Hermosas, Ugán, Tarajal de Sancho, Valle Lajita and La Lajita.

Gran Tarajal will once again be the epicenter of the best in music at an Arena Negra festival that returns to the best urban beach on the island with a lineup that brings together prominent names on the international and national scene such as Nathy Peluso, Loquillo, Malú or Pastor Soler.

On November 11 and 12, Gran Tarajal expects to receive more than 20,000 people who will come to the town to enjoy the program that was presented this Thursday at a press conference by the mayor of the municipality, Esther Hernández; the president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Sergio Lloret; the Councilor for Culture, Nélida Padilla; the Minister of Culture, Rayco León; and the Councilor for Commerce, Cristofer Jaime.

On Friday the 11th, they will step on the Arena Negra stage: Loquillo, Maldita Nerea and Pastora Soler. On Saturday the 12th, it will be the turn of Nathy Peluso, Malú, Rigoberta Bandini and Mala Rodríguez. In addition, in the next few days more artists will be announced who will go through the festival.

"This festival has a great impact on the economy of our municipality, because it will be a shock to the commercial, hotel and restaurant sectors. The Arena Negra Festival is also a demonstration of the cultural potential of Gran Tarajal, of the capacity that As a town, we have the ability to organize and host large events", highlighted the Mayor Esther Hernández.

The president of the Insular Corporation, Sergio Lloret, highlighted the "total predisposition" of the Island Council to collaborate with "this tremendous festival, in whose first edition I had the honor of promoting it as mayor of the municipality of Tuineje, and the happiness of attending the enormous registered success, more than 22,000 people. It is great news that it has been possible to recover the event in 2022 and, taking into account the current socioeconomic moment, after the health crisis, I am sure that recovering the Black Arena will be very positive for the economy of the municipality of Tuineje and that of the entire island of Fuerteventura".

"The Arena Negra aims to be a sustainable festival and raise awareness about the care and protection of our environment and our seas. In this sense, we are working on a program that allows us to raise awareness about the work carried out by many groups in the island to preserve our ecosystem", pointed out the Councilor for Culture, Nélida Padilla.

The Councilor for Culture of the Cabildo, Rayco León, explained that "this festival honors the cultural activity and movement that has always existed in the town of Gran Tarajal and in the municipality of Tuineje, with a proposal that must have continuity over time as tourist and cultural attraction in Fuerteventura".

"From the Ministry of Culture we are available for everything that an event of these characteristics requires," added León.

For his part, the Councilor for Commerce, Cristofer Jaime, has stressed "the high economic impact that this festival has on the commerce of the municipality, which is a stimulus for the commercial fabric due to the high influx of public that is expected in the two days of festival".

Esther Hernández took advantage of the occasion to remark that "the authorization to install the stage on this beach has already been processed with the Provincial Directorate of Coasts of Las Palmas. We trust that this time the authorization will be granted."
